It’s a complex and confusing world at times. Well it can be at least. There’s always a lot going on, and not a lot of it makes sense to us. It’s not always black or white, and sometimes it just makes us want to scream or bang our heads off the wall. I can easily, easily see how things can be going so well for a person, so straight forward, so smooth, and then next thing you know is BAM! The only choice they have is to become a criminal. Because sometimes life just flips itself on it’s head and then that seems like the only choice you have left to survive.

One of the hardest parts I’ve found over the years is that sometimes it feels like your thoughts are not your own. You feel like you are being pulled and pushed in a certain direction. Like your choices have already been made for you and you are just a slave to the rhythm of life. It feels like you aren’t always in control. It’s like I’m being driven by another part of me. At least that’s the way it makes me feel.

I’ve spent a bunch of time over the years just wishing people would leave me alone. And then I try to remind myself that one of the important things to try and remember is that you are not alone. When things get tough there are other people around that can support you and help you. You might want to cry, you might think, he doesn’t care about me, she doesn’t care about him, they don’t care about us. But sometimes that’s just down to human nature. People express themselves in different ways, and sometimes someone is just having a bad one and isn‘t really being them self.

One thing I do believe is that when you are in a tough situation you can beat it. I say that because I remember a time when I’ve told myself that. All the pain, all the struggle, all the hardship. It’s not so bad. Don’t get me wrong though it’s tough, like sometimes it can be really tough. But I really think that it’s in those moments that you want to be starting something. You’ve got to be starting something. Have look at yourself in the mirror and start something that inspires you, start something that motivates and drives you. And then, simply, don’t stop ‘til you get enough of it. Write a book, see a play, watch a film; a psychological thriller, a romance, a comedy. There’s always sometimes positive you can do with your time. Maybe listen to some music?

I mean, if I said think of a singer right now, any singer, who springs to mind?

Michael Jackson?

Something someone supposedly said

“I want to give the audience a hint of a scene. No more than that. Give them too much and they won’t contribute anything themselves. Give them just a suggestion and you get them working with you. That’s what gives the theatre meaning: when it becomes a social act.” - Orson Welles
